WD2000: Theme Not Displayed When Document Sent from Word (208868)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Word 2000

This article was previously published under Q208868

SYMPTOMS

When you click Send To Mail Recipient on the File menu in Word, the Personal Stationary template does not appear in the new mail message.

This problem occurs regardless of the view (for example, print layout or Web layout view), or whether you send as an attachment from Word 2000.

CAUSE

The Send To command transfers the current document in Microsoft Word to a MAPI-compliant messaging program (for example, Microsoft Exchange or Microsoft Outlook). In transferring the file, the Send To command does not activate the Personal Stationery theme.

WORKAROUND

To keep the Personal Stationery theme look in your e-mail message, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Copy and Paste Your Word Document to a New Message

  1. In your Word document, click Select All on the Edit menu.
  2. On the Edit menu, click Copy.
  3. In Microsoft Outlook, point to New on the File menu, and click Mail Message.
  4. Move the insertion point to the message area of your new message, and click Paste on the Edit menu.

Method 2: Insert the Word Document in a New Message

  1. In Word, save and close your document.
  2. In Microsoft Outlook 2000, point to New on the File menu, and then click Mail Message.
  3. Move the insertion point to the message area of your new message, and then on the Insert menu, click File.
  4. Point to and click to select the document you saved in step 1.
  5. Click the down arrow to display the Insert button menu, and click Insert as Text or Insert as Attachment.

NOTE: If Insert as Text or Insert as Attachment does not appear on the Insert button drop-down list (depending on how you want to send your Word document), do the following steps before repeating step 5:
    1. Click Cancel to close the Insert File dialog box.
    2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
    3. On the General tab, click to select or clear Mail as attachment and then click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
