SUMMARY

This article describes how to import contact lists into Outlook Express 5.02 for the Macintosh.

MORE INFORMATION

Outlook Express 5.02 can import contacts from any program, provided that the contact document is saved in one of the following formats:
  • Text file with tab-delimitation
  • Text file with comma-delimitation

To import contacts, follow these steps:
  1. In Outlook Express, on the File menu, click Import.
  2. In the Import Assistant, click Import contact from a text file, and then click the right arrow to continue.
  3. Click the file that contains the contacts that you want to import, and then click Open.
  4. Drag the fields from the right pane into the left pane next to the appropriate field. If an automatically imported field does not appear next to the appropriate field in the left pane, click and drag it to the appropriate position. If there is no corresponding field in Outlook Express, place the field in the right pane.

NOTE: Any fields that remain in the right pane will not be imported.
  5. You can view more than one record by clicking the Prev or Next button to verify that the fields are mapped appropriately.
  6. Click Import. After the contacts are imported, you are prompted to click Finish.
For more information about how to import contacts, click Microsoft Outlook Express Help on the Help menu, type import contacts from a text file in the Office Assistant or the Answer Wizard, and then click Search to view the topic.
