Multilanguage Support May Appear Disabled After Upgrade (208089)

SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade your computer from a Pan European version of Microsoft Windows 95 to Windows 98, multilanguage support may appear to be disabled in the Add/Remove Programs tool, but the Cyrillic character set may still work on your computer.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if you have the Cyrillic character set enabled before you upgrade your computer to Windows 98.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, add multilanguage support after you upgrade your computer:

NOTE: You can safely ignore this problem if the Cyrillic character set is the only multilanguage character set you use.
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  2. Click the Windows Setup tab, click to select the Multilanguage Support check box, and then click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
