ACC2000: Large, Linked Excel Sheet Appears to Hang Report Wizard (207764)

SYMPTOMS
When you use the Report Wizard in Microsoft Access 2000 to create a
report that is based on a linked spreadsheet that is more than 10 megabytes
(MB) in size, the wizard takes a long time to create the report. In some
cases, Microsoft Access may stop responding (hang), or you may receive a
"GPF in MSACCESS.EXE" error message.
CAUSE
Depending on the size of the linked spreadsheet, it may take up to an hour
or more to create the report with the Report Wizard.
RESOLUTION
To create a report in Microsoft Access that uses a large amount of data
from a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, do one of the following:
Import the spreadsheet into a Microsoft Access database.
Create the report without using the Report Wizard.
