OL98: Cannot Dismiss Reminders in Outlook 98 (207459)

SYMPTOMS

When attempting to dismiss recursive reminders in Outlook, the user may continue getting reminder messages on the same appointment and is unable to dismiss the reminder.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

The fix for this problem is also included in the Microsoft Outlook 98 Archive Patch, with an Oullib.dll file version of 8.05.6204, dated 6/14/99. The Archive Patch is available from the Microsoft Office Update site at the following address:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

This condition may exist after moving user mailboxes from one server in the site to another using move mailbox. The above problem can also be seen without using moveuser.

In order to apply this fix each client computer experiencing the above problem needs the updated Outllib.dll file.
