SYMPTOMS

After you install Windows 98 to a new folder or perform a "clean" installation, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:
  • Your ZyXEL ISDN Omni TA128 Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) adapter may be incorrectly detected as a ZyXEL Omni.net ISDN adapter or standard modem.
  • If you view your ZyXEL ISDN Omni TA128 ISDN adapter in Device Manager, the adapter may contain a yellow exclamation mark.
  • When you try to use your ZyXEL ISDN Omni TA128 ISDN adapter, it may not work correctly, and you may receive the following error message:
    Error 630: The computer is not receiving a response from the modem. Check that the modem is plugged in, and if necessary, turn the modem off, and then turn it back on.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if the HardwareID for the ZyXEL ISDN Omni TA128 is not identified correctly in the Mdmzyxlg.inf file.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact ZyXEL to inquire about the availability of a fix for this issue, or obtain and install the most current driver for this device. A "clean" installation of Windows means either installing Windows on a blank hard disk, or installing Windows in a folder other than the folder in which an existing version of Windows is installed.
