To create a black and white representation of the slide in PowerPoint, and use that image in Word, follow these steps:

Start or switch to PowerPoint and open your file.
On the View menu, click Black and White.
On the View menu, click Slide Sorter.
Right-click the slide, and then click Copy on the menu that appears.
Start or switch to Word.
On the Edit menu in Word, click Paste Special.
Select Microsoft PowerPoint Slide Object and click OK.

The slide is displayed with a white background and black text. When you print it, it is printed the same way.

NOTE: If you paste the slide as an inline object (or set the wrapping style to In line with text) and update it in Word (by selecting it and pressing F9), it reverts back to color.

To set the wrapping style of an object in Word, select the object, click Object on the Format menu, and then click the Layout tab.
