SYMPTOMS

When you use the Maintenance Wizard utility included in Microsoft Plus! 98 to optimize the performance of your computer, you may receive a General Protection Fault error message.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if a folder located inside your Start Menu folder contains a folder structure that is more than 20 folders deep.

RESOLUTION

To prevent this issue from occurring, make sure the folder structures of all folders located inside your Start Menu folder are less than 20 folders deep.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Plus! 98, version 1.0.
