WD2000: Closing File in Print Preview Doesn't Close File (204846)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to close a file that appears in the print preview window by using one of the following methods:
  • Pressing ALT+F4.

    -or-
  • Clicking the Close button (the X in the top right corner of the window).

    -or-
  • Right-clicking the Word document button on the taskbar and then clicking Close.
Word closes the print preview window rather than the file. This functionality is different from earlier versions of Word in which Word closes the file.

CAUSE

Microsoft implemented this design at the request of customer feedback.

RESOLUTION

To close the file, click Close on the File menu.
