PI 2.0: CD-ROM Drive Readability Question and Answers (202230)

When you run Picture It! Setup, you may experience one of the following problems:
- Setup may stop responding (hang).
- The CD-ROM drive spins endlessly or stops.
CAUSE
This issue occurs because the Picture It! 2.0 CD contains 642 Megabytes (MB) of data. This amount of data is more than the typical read capacity of some CD-ROM drives.
RESOLUTION
To troubleshoot CD read-ability issues, follow these steps: - Is the Picture It! compact disc dirty or damaged?
If the compact disc is clearly scratched or warped the CD-ROM drive may not be able to read the compact disc. - Can the CD-ROM drive read other compact discs?
If the CD-ROM drive cannot read other compact discs, then you may have a problem with your hardware. For more information about your CD-ROM drive, please consult the manufacturer's documentation that you received with your hardware. - Troubleshoot the read capacity of the CD-ROM drive.
- What brand and model is your CD-ROM drive?
- Is this model know to have a capacity limitation?
- Is the system using MS-DOS CD-ROM drive drivers?
Disable the DOS Driver.

- When you set up Microsoft Windows 98, was a "REM" statement placed in front of the MS-DOS Driver in your Config.sys or Autoexec.bat files?
Take out the "REM" statement in front of your MS-DOS driver in your Config.sys or Autoexec.bat files.
If these steps fail to resolve the read capacity issue with your CD-ROM drive, the following options are available to you: - Use Picture It! on another computer.
- Return Picture It! for a refund.
- Obtain another CD-ROM drive.
