Changes Are Not Applied After Selecting User Style Sheet Option (202138)

SYMPTOMS

When you create a custom style sheet using the Accessibility button in the Internet Options tool, if you enter a style sheet in the User style sheet section, your changes may not be applied to the document.

CAUSE

The User style sheet option is an accessibility feature of the Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) feature. This option does not use Extensible Stylesheet Language (XSL) because Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) must be used with the CSS feature for accessibility.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install Internet Explorer version 5.5 or later.

In Internet Explorer, you can specify your own style sheet to make Web pages more accessible. The user style sheet that you configure by using the Internet Options tool should be created in XSL, and then applied to the HTML style sheet. For example, if an XSL style sheet includes an <H1> tag, an H1 tag is applied in the HTML style sheet. In this way, you can use XSL to take advantage of the accessibility feature provided through CSS.
