SUMMARY

By default, the Guest account is disabled on Windows 2000 servers. If you upgrade to Windows 2000 from an earlier version of Windows in which you allowed the Guest account access to Macintosh volumes, you need to enable the Guest account after the upgrade.

In Windows 2000, the domain or local Guest account is merged with the Guest account for Macintosh users.

To enable the Guest account on a domain controller:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type mmc, and then click OK.
  2. Double-click Active Directory Manager, double-click the appropriate server name, and then double-click the Users folder.
  3. Right-click Guest in the list of names, and then click to select the Enable Account check box.
NOTE: If the server is a stand-alone server, follow the same steps in the Local User Manager snap-in.
