SBS: Manager Server Console Initiates Dial-Up (201508)

SYMPTOMS
When you start the Manager Server console on computer running Small Business Server (SBS), a dial-up connection is initiated.
CAUSE
This situation is caused by the connection settings in Internet Explorer, which are configured through the Connection Settings under Internet Options for Internet Explorer 4.x. For Internet Explorer 3.x, this setting is only configurable through the registry.
RESOLUTION
If Internet Explorer is configured to connect via a LAN, to use itself as a Web Proxy Server, and if the Proxy autodial is correctly configured, then, when you browse to Web sites from the server itself, the Proxy server dials and the Web page will be displayed in Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer 4.x- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Internet.
- On the Connection tab, and click to select the Connect to the Internet using a local area network check box.

- Go to the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings - If this key is found, change the EnableAutodial Binary value of the following subkeys to 00 00 00 00.
