OFF2000: Menus and Toolbars Selected Only When Program Is Active (200372)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office 2000 Developer
- Microsoft Office 2000 Premium
- Microsoft Office 2000 Professional
- Microsoft Office 2000 Standard
This article was previously published under Q200372 SYMPTOMS
When you click a menu or toolbar in any of the Microsoft Office
programs, nothing may appear to happen.
CAUSE
This behavior may occur when you click a menu or toolbar in a program that does not currently have focus. When you click a menu or toolbar in an Office program that not have the focus, the action sets the focus to that program.
RESOLUTION
To use the menu or toolbar, click the the item again.
MORE INFORMATION
This is by design of the Office programs. Because menus and toolbars are shared among Office programs, this behavior is designed to be consistent for all the Office programs. When the focus is outside the program, clicking once switches to the program, and clicking again makes available the specific menu or toolbar.
