Error 2392 Creating Remote Network Share from Local Computer (200314)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to create a network share on a remote computer running Windows 95 or Windows 98 from your local computer running Windows 95 or Windows 98, you may receive the following error message:
You are already sharing folder using the name share. Do you want to share folder using the name share instead?
If you click Yes, you may receive the following error message:
An error occurred while trying to delete share share. Error 2392.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you are administering a computer that has remote administration enabled and you attempt to create a network share on the remote computer with the same name as a local share that already exists.

RESOLUTION

Despite the error messages you receive when you are creating the share on the remote computer, the local share is not deleted and the remote share is created correctly.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
