SUMMARY

The Microsoft Importer for Lotus Notes Mail and Exchange Server allows Notes e-mail users to convert their existing Notes e-mail database, folders, and messages to Exchange Server.

You can use the Importer for Lotus Notes Mail program to convert folders and e-mail messages from a Notes e-mail database to Exchange Server mailboxes directly from the desktops of the users.

A Importer for Lotus Notes Mail administrator runs the setup program. The administrator can then perform the mailbox conversions, or the administrator can provide users with the Importer for Lotus Notes Mail program and documentation so that the users can perform the conversions.

The Importer for Lotus Notes Mail is a data migration program. Only data, such as folders and messages, is converted by the Importer for Lotus Notes Mail.

Hardware Requirements

The minimum system requirement is an 80386 25 megahertz (MHz) computer that has 16 megabytes (MB) of random access memory (RAM). A Pentium personal computer that has 32 MB of RAM is recommended.

Software Requirements

You can run the setup program on any Microsoft Windows NT version 3.51 or later workstation. After you successfully run the setup program, you can distribute the Importer for Lotus Notes Mail to users that have computers running Microsoft Windows version 3.1 or later, Windows NT version 3.51 or later, Microsoft Windows 95, or Microsoft Windows 98.

You need to install the following software on the client workstation before you start the Importer for Lotus Notes Mail:
  • Lotus Notes client release 3.0 or later
  • 32-bit Microsoft Exchange Client version 4.0 or later

Storage Requirements

To store the Importer for Lotus Notes Mail programs, you need a minimum of 7 MB of disk space and additional space for mail folders, forms, and messages.
