SYMPTOMS

When you try to apply Internet Explorer Service Pack 1 (SP1) to an IEAK build that you are creating, the new version of the browser is not listed in the Automatic Version Synchronization (AVS) components dialog box.

RESOLUTION

  1. Run the IEAK Wizard, by doing the following:

    1. Click Start.
    2. Point to Programs.
    3. Point to Microsoft IEAK.
    4. Click IEAK Wizard.
  2. Leave the checkbox for AVS checked.
  3. When you get to the components screen in AVS, it will update the list of components and indicate the ones that are older versions. Highlight any that have a yellow exclamation point (!) or a red X. Choose Synchronize to download the newest versions.
  4. If this does not work, close the wizard and flush the file cache in Internet Explorer, and then try again. To do this, do the following:

    1. Click Start and point to Programs.
    2. Point to Internet Explorer and click Internet Explorer.
    3. On the View menu, click Internet options.
    4. On the General tab, under Temporary Files, click the Delete button and click OK twice.
  5. If the above fails, remove the download folder from c:\Program Files\Ieak and run the wizard again with AVS checked.
NOTE: If you are using IEAK 4.0 to create your build, you cannot update to SP1. You must download IEAK 4.01a and install it. The next time you make a build, AVS will display the SP1 version of the browser. At that time, you can synchronize with the newer SP1 browser.
