ACC2000: Can't Create ADP or Page Using Windows Shortcut Menu (198985)

This article applies to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb) and to a Microsoft Access project (.adp).

SYMPTOMS

On the Microsoft Windows Desktop, if you use the shortcut menu to create a new Microsoft Access application, Microsoft Access is started, but you can only choose MDB in the Files of Type box. You can not use this method to create new data access pages or Microsoft Access projects.

RESOLUTION

You must start Microsoft Access, and then create a new data access page or Access project from the New command.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Right-click the Microsoft Windows Desktop, click New, and then click Microsoft Access Application.
  2. When Microsoft Access starts, click the arrow in the Files of Type box.

    Note that you see only Microsoft Access databases or Microsoft Access workgroup files as choices.
