BUG: Fast Infrared Not Functioning on Mitsubishi Pedion Notebook (198578)

SYMPTOMS

Mitsubishi Pedion portable computers cannot perform fast infrared (4 megabits per second) file transfers.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of an error in the BIOS of Mitsubishi Pedion portable computers in which the fast infrared driver is not properly enabled with Plug and Play.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, you can manually change the infrared driver to "NSC-PC87338" in Control Panel to enable fast infrared functionality.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Windows 2000.
