Err Msg: Your Microsoft Home Publishing Is Not Properly Set Up (198424)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to start one of the programs listed earlier in this article, you may receive the following error message:
Your Microsoft Home Publishing is not properly set up.

The following component(s) is(are) either missing or need(s) a newer version installed:

HHCTRL.OCX
When you click OK, the program starts normally.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you remove Microsoft Money 99 after you install one of the programs listed earlier in this article. When you remove Money 99, you remove the entry for the Hhctrl.ocx component in the Windows registry.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods.

Automatically Register the Hhctrl.ocx Component

To automatically register the Hhctrl.ocx component, click Microsoft Home Publishing Help on the Help menu.

Manually Register the Hhctrl.ocx Component

To manually register the Hhctrl.ocx component, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type the following line, and then click OK:

    regsvr32 hhctrl.ocx

  3. When you receive the following confirmation message, click OK:

    DllRegisterServer in hhctrl.ocx succeeded.
