PRJ: Missing Symbols and Timescale in Inserted Project Object (198353)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Project 2000
- Microsoft Project 98 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q198353 SYMPTOMS
When you insert a Microsoft Project object into another program (such as
Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word), outline symbols may not be displayed
next to tasks in the Microsoft Project object. In addition, a portion of
the timescale may not be displayed.
CAUSE
This behavior may occur when you insert a Microsoft Project object in
another program and the Microsoft Project object is not active. This
behavior is by design.
NOTE: Outline symbols are displayed when you activate the project only if the Show Outline Symbol option is selected in Microsoft Project. To find this option, click Options on the Tools menu, and then click the View tab. It is located under Outline Options.
MORE INFORMATION
When you insert a Microsoft Project object into another program, the
program treats the inactive object similar to how Microsoft Project prints
a project. Microsoft Project does not display outline symbols when printing
a project. Similarly, other applications do not display outline symbols
when an object is inactive. Also, the end of the timescale is adjusted so
that the end of the object matches a separator from the timescale.
