FP2000: Form Field Name Is Overwritten If You Specify Field Validation (198225)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q198225 For a Microsoft FrontPage 98 version of this article, see 174427.
SYMPTOMS
When you apply validation to a form field, FrontPage overwrites the custom
form field name that you entered for the form field.
CAUSE
When you apply field validation to a form field, FrontPage automatically
assigns a predefined name to the form to ensure that the name being used is
unique. These names are passed to the FrontPage Server Extensions at
browse-time. Note that if you apply validation to a form field, you cannot assign a custom name to the form.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, set the scripting language to None. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open the Web that contains the page that uses form field validation.
- On the Tools menu, click Web Settings.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Under Default scripting language, in the Client list, select None.
- Click OK.
- If you are prompted to recalculate hyperlinks, click Yes.
