SideWinder USB game controllers do not work in Return of Arcade (198153)

SYMPTOMS

The Microsoft SideWinder USB game controllers that are listed in the "Applies To" section do not work with the games that are included in Microsoft Return of Arcade.

The following games are included in Return of Arcade:
  • Dig Dug
  • Galaxian
  • Ms. Pac Man*
  • Pac Man
  • Pole Position
* Anniversary Edition only

RESOLUTION

To use the Sidewinder USB devices that are listed at top of this article with Return of Arcade, try enabling the joystick in the game by following the steps in the "More Information" section of this article. If the issue continues to occur, connect the game controller directly to the game port on your computer. If your game controller does not have a game port connector, purchase a game port joystick. If your computer does not have a game port, return the game to the point of purchase

Note Do not use the USB adapter to connect the game controller to a USB port on the computer.

MORE INFORMATION

To use the game controller with Return of Arcade, you must turn on joystick control in the game that you want to play. To do this:
  1. Start the Return of Arcade game that you want to play.
  2. On the Options menu, click Player Controls.
  3. Under Control Options, click to select the Joystick Control check box, and then click OK.
