OL2000: Removing Microsoft Exchange Deletes Some Outlook DLLs (197984)

SYMPTOMS

After you install Outlook and then remove Microsoft Exchange Client with Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel, some shared dlls are deleted that are needed by Outlook 98.

CAUSE

Microsoft Exchange Setup does not mark some dlls as shared; therefore they are not protected during the Remove process.

RESOLUTION

Remove Microsoft Exchange before you install Outlook, or reinstall Outlook after you remove Microsoft Exchange.
