Hit Counter Fails on Software Multi-Homed Netscape Server (197777)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft FrontPage 98 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q197777 SYMPTOMS
On all Netscape servers on both Windows NT and Unix platforms, FrontPage
hit counters fail on a virtual server that is software multi-homed.
NOTE: A software multi-homed server is a virtual server that is sharing an
IP address with another server.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the Netscape Web server sets the
PATH_TRANSLATED environment variable to the main server's document root,
rather than to the root of the virtual server. The FrontPage hit counter
depends on this variable being set correctly
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in FrontPage 98 for Windows.
