Turn Off Monitor Option Missing from Power Management Tool (197737)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
This article was previously published under Q197737 SYMPTOMS
When you view the Power Management tool in Control Panel, the Turn Off
Monitor option may be missing.
CAUSE
This issue can occur if your video adapter and your video adapter driver
do not support Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) power
management. The video adapter driver must be ACPI compliant and properly
map the control methods which are read by the Acpi.sys file to construct
the options that are displayed in the Power Management tool in Control
Panel. Note that this problem can occur if you are using an out-of-date
video adapter driver, or if the ACPI Control Method description block was
improperly implemented.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, contact the manufacturer of your video
adapter to inquire about the availability of a Windows 2000 specific
video adapter driver, or a driver that supports all of the features of
ACPI power management.
