SUMMARY

Money data files created in different localized (international) versions of Money are not compatible with each other.

Due to differences in each country's financial markets, the data structure of a U.S. Money file is different from that of an international Money file. Depending on the data in the file, a version of Money for one country can read and write to a file that was created by a version of Money for another country. However, the resulting file will contain values that are no longer recognized and can cause file corruption. Eventually, neither version of Money will be able to read the file.

MORE INFORMATION

Before you export your Money data file to a different localized version of Money, consider the following issues:
  • Money cannot export closed accounts. If you want to export a closed account, you need to open it, and then export it. After you import the account into a new file, you can close it again.

For information about how to open and close accounts in Money, please see your Money printed documentation or Money online Help.
  • Money cannot export your recurring bills. However, you can print an Upcoming Bills report, so you will have this information available to create your bills again in your new file.
  • You cannot export loan accounts. However, you can print a Loan Terms And Loan Transactions report so you have the information available to create a new loan account.

For information about how to create loan accounts in Money, please see your Money printed documentation or Money online Help.
  • If you have several accounts, you may want to print a Customized Net Worth report so you have a list of accounts that you can mark for each account you import.

For information about how to print this report in Money, please see your Money printed documentation or Money online Help.
  • For the Business versions of Money, you cannot export business data, such as Invoices and Customers; however, you can print various reports, such as Receivables by Customer, Payables by Vendor, and so forth. These reports provide most of the necessary information that you can enter in your new file.
