PhD: Errors Opening Adobe Photoshop *.PSD Files (197468)

When you try to open a PhotoShop (.PSD) file in PhotoDraw, you may receive
an error similar to the following.
The .PSD file cannot be read. The blend signature is invalid.
The .PSD file cannot be read. The number of image channels exceeds
the capacity allowed by PhotoDraw.
CAUSE
PhotoDraw can read PhotoShop (*.PSD) files up to version 4.0, but it cannot
read version 5.0. The reason is that format changed slightly in version 5.0
but the changes were not published in time for Microsoft to include them in
this version of PhotoDraw.
WORKAROUND
Save the file again in PhotoShop and choose PSD version 4.0 or earlier or
some other file format that PhotoDraw can open.
MORE INFORMATION
PhotoShop PSD files are a bitmap format that supports layering. When a PSD
file opens in PhotoDraw each layer becomes a separate object in PhotoDraw.
