This article describes how to troubleshoot problems when crawling Exchange public folders.

  • Make sure the Exchange settings are properly configured by doing the following:

    1. Go to Site Server Management Console.
    2. Select the Search snap-in.
    3. Go to the properties for the Computer Name.
    4. Make sure the Exchange Organization name, Site name, Exchange Server name, and Outlook Web Access server (OWA) are properly configured.
    5. Make sure the Organization name and the Site name are not interchanged.
  • Make sure the document access account has administrative access on the Exchange Configuration object for each site that hosts public folders to be cataloged.
  • Make sure the starting address has the proper syntax, for example:
          exch://ExchangeServer/Public Folders/All Public Folders/Company News
    						
    where ExchangeServer is the name of the Exchange Server you have configured for Search.

    You can locate the starting by doing the following:

    1. Go to Site Server Management Console.
    2. Select the Search snap-in.
    3. Select Computer Name.
    4. Select Catalog Build Server.
    5. Select properties on the catalog.
    6. Click the General tab.
