You may get the following error message when opening a new mail message from within Outlook:

CAUSE

The delivery location in your default Windows Messaging Profile is set to "(None)".

Modify the default Windows Messaging Profile to select a mail delivery location.

If None is the only delivery location available in the list, you will need to add a mail service and/or a personal folder. To add a personal folder file to Outlook, see to following article in the Microsoft Knowledge base:

If this profile is not set to define a mail delivery location, you will receive the error message mentioned in the "Symptoms" section.

Defining a Mail Delivery Location in the Default Profile

  1. On the Start button, point to Settings and then click Control Panel.
  2. In the Control Panel, double-click the Mail And Fax icon.
  3. On the Delivery tab, click to select a delivery location from the "Deliver new mail to the following location" list, and click OK.
