This article was previously published under Q197331

SYMPTOMS

In the Calendar view, when you use the Go To Next Overallocation toolbar button (on the Resource Management toolbar), a day may be selected but no tasks are selected, even though overallocations exist.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when an overallocated resource is assigned to a task whose task bar is not formatted to be displayed (such as a summary task) in the Bar Styles dialog box.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, show bars for tasks that are not currently being displayed. To do this, follow these steps.

  1. In the Calendar view, on the Format menu, click Bar Styles.
  2. Under Task Type, click the appropriate task type.
  3. In the Bar Type list, click Line or Bar.
  4. Click OK.
NOTE: Repeat steps 2 and 3 for any other bars in the Bar Styles dialog box whose Bar Type is set to None.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
