OL2000: (CW) MAPI Was Unable to Load the Information Service (197265)

This article was previously published under Q197265 NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate Workgroup/Other option. This option allows you to use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, on the Help Menu, click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you will see "Corporate" if you have the Corporate Workgroup installation.
SYMPTOMS
When you try to start Microsoft Outlook and you use the Microsoft
Outlook Support for Lotus cc:Mail, you may receive either of the following error messages:
An unexpected error has occurred. MAPI was unable to load the information service CCDB8.DLL. Be sure the service is correctly installed and configured.
Unable to locate your default mail folders. Outlook could not start because a location to send and receive mail could not be found. To add a location, such as a personal folder, double-click the Mail icon in Windows Control Panel.
CAUSE
You do not have Personal Folders in your profile.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, add Personal Folders to your profile. To do so:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Mail (or Mail And Fax) icon, and then on the Services tab click Show Profiles.
- Click to select the profile you to which you want to add a new Personal Folders file, and then click Properties.
- On the Services tab, click Add.
- In the Available Information Services list, click Personal Folders, and then click OK.
- Type a name for your new Personal Folders file with a .pst extension, and then click Open.
- In the Personal Folders dialog box, change the name for this Personal Folders file if you want to do so, click OK, and then click OK again.
