BUG: (local) Disappears When Using DTS Transfer SQL Server Object (197246)

SYMPTOMS

When Data Transformation Services (DTS) are used, the Transfer SQL Server Objects dialog box may not display (local) as one of the choices in the Server list. Initially (local) is one of the options in the Server list, but after using that list, (local) may no longer be included.

WORKAROUND

Clear the Server field and type "(local)" (without the quotation marks).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server version 7.0
