NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate Workgroup/Other option. This option allows you to use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, on the Help Menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Corporate" if you have the Corporate Workgroup installation.

SUMMARY

Even if you choose to have replies sent to a different address, Microsoft Outlooks always sends Read Receipt messages to the original message sender.

MORE INFORMATION

With Outlook, you can specify to have replies to a message sent to someone else. However, this setting will not affect Read Receipt messages. These messages are always sent to the address in the From field of the original message (the sender).

To Specify a Different Receiver for Replies to a Message

  1. Open a new e-mail message.
  2. On the View menu, click Options.
  3. Under "Voting and Tracking options," click to select the "Request a delivery receipt for this message" and/or "Request a read receipt for this message" check boxes.
  4. Under Delivery Options, click to select the "Have replies sent to" check box. Click Select Names and select the address to send replies to this message.
  5. Click OK. Click Close, and complete and send the message.
Except for Read Receipt messages, all replies to this message will go to the specified address. Read Receipt messages will return to the sender.
