PRJ98: Performance Reduced When Using Web Workgroup Feature (197073)

SYMPTOMS

When using the Web Workgroup feature, the performance of Microsoft Project may be reduced.

CAUSE

You may see this behavior when the following conditions are true:

  • The Notify when new web messages arrive option is enabled. (This option is located on the Workgroup tab of the Options dialog box.)

  • Your network connection to the Web server is slow.
NOTE: Microsoft Project checks for new Web messages approximately every 5 minutes.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, if you do not require the Notify when new web messages arrive option, turn it off. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu click Options, and then click the Workgroup tab.
  2. Click to clear the Notify when new web messages arrive check box.
  3. Click OK.
