OL2000: (IMO) Voting Button Options Are Not Available (196983)

SYMPTOMS

There are no Voting button options for e-mail messages in your installation of Microsoft Outlook.

CAUSE

The Internet Mail Only installation of Outlook does not include Voting button features.

RESOLUTION

The Outlook Messaging Interface used with the Internet Mail Only installation of Outlook, does not allow for Voting buttons. This feature is available with the Corporate or Workgroup installation of Outlook, because it is a full MAPI client. To get this feature you need to convert to the Corporate or Workgroup installation of Outlook.

There are some considerations concerning conversion from one installation type to another. The most significant of these is migrating your IMAP mail account after the conversion. There is no support for IMAP accounts in the Corporate or Workgroup version of Outlook, however there is support for POP3/SMTP accounts. Many other features, such as Net Folders and multiple Internet accounts are available.

To convert to Corporate or Workgroup, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Mail Delivery tab, click Reconfigure Mail Support.
  3. In the E-mail Service Options dialog box, click Internet Only. Click Next.
  4. Click Yes when asked to confirm the change. Outlook will quit and the change will take place when you restart Outlook.
