SYMPTOMS

After merging several cells in a very large Publisher table you may receive the following message:

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.

If you click Details, you receive the following additional information:

MSPUB caused an invalid page fault in module QS98.DLL at 015f:40408d0b.

This only occurs in very large tables, usually greater than 30 rows by 30 columns.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
