OL2000: (CW) Digital IDs Missing from Address Book Import (196800)

NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate Workgroup/Other option. This option allows you to use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, on the Help Menu, click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook, you should see "Corporate" if you have the Corporate Workgroup installation.

SYMPTOMS

When you import Address Book entries from Microsoft Outlook Express into Microsoft Outlook Contacts, Digital IDs are not included.

RESOLUTION

You must manually export each Digital ID from Outlook Express, and then import it into the corresponding Outlook Contact record.

To Export a Digital ID from Outlook Express

  1. In Outlook Express, on the Tools menu, click Address Book.
  2. Double-click a contact whose Digital ID you wish to export.
  3. On the Digital ID tab, click Export.
  4. Enter a path and name for the export file, and then click Save.
This will export the digital ID to a Certificate (.cer) file.

To Import a Digital ID into an Outlook Contact

  1. Double-click a contact whose Digital ID you wish to import.
  2. On the Certificates tab, click Import.
  3. Click to select the Certificate (.cer) file containing this contact's Digital ID, and click Open.
Outlook inserts the Digital ID into the contact's Certificates list.
