Error Message: Syncmgr.exe - Unable to Locate DLL (196597)

When you connect your Windows CE-based device to your desktop computer,
you may receive the following error message:
Syncmgr.exe - Unable to locate DLL
The dynamic link library pegconv.dll could not be found in the specified path path
Note that this error message does not cause problems with synchronization.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if there is an older version of the Pegconv.dll
file on your desktop computer.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, follow these steps on your desktop computer:
- Uninstall Windows CE Services.
- Search for and rename any copies of the Pegconv.dll file left on your
computer. To do so, click Start, point to Find, click Files or folders, type pegconv.dll in the Named box, and then click Find Now. Right-click any found Pegconv.dll file, and then click Rename. Type pegconv.old, and then press ENTER.
- Reinstall Windows CE Services.
This issue may occur only once after you log on to Microsoft Windows NT 4.0. To work around this issue, open the Mobile Device folder immediately after you log on to Windows NT, and then connect the device. This issue does not affect data.
