SUMMARY

This article describes how to distribute Internet Explorer by using an IEAK build from a shared network drive.

To distribute Internet Explorer from a network share do the following:
  1. Use the IEAK Wizard to create an IEAK CD build. (For more information on creating a build of Internet Explorer see the online Help for IEAK.)
  2. Right-click Start and click Explore.
  3. Browse to <drive>:\<path>\Win95_nt\CD\Win95\En\Packages, where <drive> is the drive letter and <path> is the path to your build.
  4. Right-click the Packages folder and click Sharing.
  5. Select "Shared as" and specify the share name.
  6. Click OK.
  7. To connect to the share from a workstation, click Start and then click Run.
  8. Type \\<machinename>\<sharename>\ie4setup.exe.
    Where <machinename> is the name of the server and <sharename> is the name of the share.
Internet Explorer will now install.

NOTE: You cannot use the files created for a download build to do this.
