PI: Send Via E-Mail Command Fails in Windows NT with Outlook Express (196375)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Picture It! 1.0
- Microsoft Picture It! 2.0
- Microsoft Picture It! 99
This article was previously published under Q196375 SYMPTOMS
If you choose the Send Via E-mail command and your e-mail tool is Outlook
Express running on Microsoft Windows NT version 3.51 or 4.0, you receive the
following error message:
Unable to send via email. Windows Messaging is not installed. Please install this from your Windows Setup.
You receive this error message if Windows Messaging is installed and Microsoft Outlook
Express is set as the default simple MAPI client.
CAUSE
The Send Via E-mail command in Picture It! is designed to work
with a true MAPI client. Outlook Express is not a true MAPI client (it
uses POP3). When you use Microsoft Windows 95, Outlook Express successfully mimics a
true MAPI mail client when the "default simple MAPI client" option is set.
If you are running Windows NT 4.0 this does not work.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Picture It!
version 2.0 for Windows.
