How to Remove the Default List of Internet Locator Servers (196301)

This article describes how to remove the default Internet Locator Server (ILS) list that is included in NetMeeting. This may be useful if you want to configure NetMeeting to only use one or more ILS servers that you choose.

For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys And Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it.

To remove the default Internet Locator Server (ILS) list included in NetMeeting, use the following steps:

  1. In NetMeeting, click Options on the Tools menu, and then click the Calling tab.
  2. Click the "Log on to the directory server when NetMeeting starts" check box to select it, and then type your server name in the Server Name box.
  3. Click OK, and then quit NetMeeting.
  4. Use Registry Editor to view the following registry key:
          HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\Microsoft\User Location Service\Client
    						
    Edit the value of the Server Name value to be the ILS server you want NetMeeting to use by default.
  5. Use Registry Editor to delete all of the values except Default in the following registry key:
          HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\Microsoft\Conferencing\UI\Directory
