This article was previously published under Q196283 SYMPTOMS
When you copy or move a file into an encrypted compressed folder, the
file may not be encrypted.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur because Microsoft Plus! 98 encrypts a file in
a compressed folder only if you copy or move the file into a compressed
folder that is not already encrypted, and then encrypt the folder.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, decrypt and then encrypt the compressed folder into
which you copied or moved the file. To do this, follow these steps:
- Right-click the compressed folder you want to use, and then click
Decrypt.
- In the Password box, type the encryption password for the folder, and
then click OK.
- Right-click the compressed folder, and then click Encrypt.
- In the Password box, type the encryption password you want to use
for the folder, type the password again in the Confirm Password box,
and then click OK.
