Automatic Version Synchronization (AVS) Required When Running the IEAK Wizard (196140)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer Administration Kit 4.0
- Microsoft Internet Explorer Administration Kit 4.01
- Microsoft Internet Explorer Administration Kit 4.01a
This article was previously published under Q196140 SYMPTOMS
When you perform a Web-based install and run the IEAK Wizard for the first
time, the Automatic Version Synchronization (AVS) is required. The AVS
checkbox is checked and unavailable (grayed). You cannot change it.
CAUSE
This behavior is by design.
The IEAK setup does not install any of the required Internet Explorer 4.0
CAB files. The CAB files are downloaded through the AVS feature in the
IEAK Wizard. Therefore, you must have AVS enabled the first time you run
the Wizard.
RESOLUTION
As a minimum, you must synchronize the Internet Explorer 4.x browser
component. After completing these steps, you can run the IEAK Wizard again
and turn off (uncheck) the AVS checkbox.
