OL2000: (CW) IPF in Module EXSEC32.DLL Opening "Task Accepted" (196040)

NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate or Workgroup option. This option allows you to use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, on the Help Menu, click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook, you should see "Corporate" if you have the Corporate Workgroup installation.

SYMPTOMS

When you open a Task Accepted message in Microsoft Outlook, you may receive one of the following error messages.

Windows 95/98

OUTLOOK caused an invalid page fault in module EXSEC32.DLL at 0137:6f216b7d.


Windows NT

An application error has occurred and an application error log is being generated. OUTLOOK.exe

Exception access violation (0xc0000005), Address: 0x6f216b7d


NOTE: You may also receive this error message in Windows 95 if you are running Dr. Watson.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when your default mail delivery is set to a Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.0 mailbox, and the Task Accepted message contains an attachment.

RESOLUTION

Install the Microsoft Exchange Server 5.0 Post Service Pack 2 Patch for the Information Store.
