Err Msg: Report Document File Error Can't Save Report to <filename and path> Overflow (196004)

SYMPTOMS

If you import 370 MB of Proxy Log files, when the Report Writer module attempts to run the report, it queries the database for information to build the header of the report. The following error message occurs and Report Writer shuts down:
Report document file error
Can't save report to < filename and path>
Overflow

RESOLUTION

A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely affected by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Site Server service pack.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, rebuild the database and do not import as much information.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Site Server version 3.0.
