SUMMARY

Nonprinting square bullets are displayed in the left margin area of a document when you view the document in page layout or in normal view.

You can see the nonprinting square bullets in either normal or page layout view. To see the squares, use one of the following procedures:

  • Click the Show/Hide paragraph button on the Standard toolbar.

    -or-
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. Click the View tab.
  3. Under Nonprinting Characters, click Paragraph Marks.
  4. Click OK.
These squares indicate that one or more of the following paragraph formattings is applied to the text:

  • Keep Lines Together
  • Keep With Next
  • Page Break Before
  • Suppress Line Numbers
Square bullets also appear in the left margin area where a frame has been inserted. These bullets appear in normal view only.
