This article was previously published under Q195902 SYMPTOMS
When you use the Microsoft System Information tool (Msinfo32.exe) to print
or export system information, the information that is printed or exported
may be incomplete or different from the information displayed on the
screen.
The total available disk space for a drive may be incorrect (typically
268,502,291 or 6,681,128 megabytes), and the type of file system (such
as FAT, FAT32, NTFS, or CDFS) used on the drive may be missing.
RESOLUTION
To work around this problem, manually record the correct disk information
(the total available disk space and the type of file system). The
information is presented in the following format
Available space on drive <drive letter>: <space used> MB of <total
space> MB (<file system>)
where:
<drive letter> is the letter of the drive
<space used> is the amount of disk space used
<total space> is the amount of total disk space available
<file system> is the type of file system
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 98.
