Newest Version of Internet Explorer Already Installed (195884)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PhotoDraw 2000
- Microsoft PhotoDraw 2000 2.0
This article was previously published under Q195884 SYMPTOMS
When you run PhotoDraw setup, it may prompt you to first install Internet
Explorer. Internet Explorer setup may proceed to the screen that says
"Preparing Setup - Setup is preparing to install..." and then display the
following message:
Setup has detected that the newest versions of Internet Explorer
components are already installed. Click OK to exit setup without
making any changes. (The only option is OK.)
CAUSE
This problem has been observed on systems running Windows 98 where a user
has attempted to manually uninstall Internet Explorer by deleting files.
(There is no uninstall option for Internet Explorer version 4.x in Windows
98 since it was included as part of the operating system.)
WORKAROUND
To install PhotoDraw correctly in this situation it is important to
complete all of the following steps:
- If you have a previous install of PhotoDraw BETA, Trial, or another version of PhotoDraw, uninstall it.
- On the Windows Start menu, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs. Reboot after uninstalling.
- On the Windows Start menu, click Run. Browse to the following file on the PhotoDraw setup disc:
\Photodrw\Setup.exe
- Select the file, click Open and then click OK to run setup.
- After setup is complete, reboot the system.
NOTE: The basic requirements for PhotoDraw 2000 are DirectX version 6 and Internet Explorer 4.10, SP1. DirectX6 is automatically installed when you click either the Internet Explorer or PhotoDraw button on the first screen of PhotoDraw setup. Assuming you have done this, and then received the error described above, DirectX6 will be installed correctly once you
reboot.
