Err Msg: Your Computer's Date Setting Is the Year 2038 or Higher (195802)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to start one of the programs listed earlier in this article, you may receive the following error message:
Microsoft Graphics Studio

Your computer's date setting is the year 2038 or higher. Please go to the Windows Control Panel, click the Date/Time icon, and modify the Time to a year between 1970 and 2037.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if your system clock is set to a date in the year 2038 or later.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, set your system clock to the current date and time. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Date/Time.
  3. Under Date, click the current month, year, and day.
  4. Under Time, click the current time of day.
  5. Click OK, and then close Control Panel.
